This guide is designed to be the EMERGE Workshop’s comprehensive manual for the notation of harmonics from a performer’s perspective - in this case, a string quartet.
Although still in its early stages, EMERGE’s goal is to continue to expand its content to multiple subjects surrounding the challenges of string writing for composers in the very near future.
The primary intent is to help clarify helpful notation techniques and inform composers of how performers can more effectively execute desired harmonic pitches. The Julius Quartet and Jesus J. Martinez have compiled this detailed information together as a guidebook from a wealth of combined extensive performance and compositional experiences.
